No one wants to cook on a Wednesday. Hump day is usually a day to survive as you try to remind yourself that the worst part of the week is over, and that the slow but sure slide into the weekend has begun. Wednesday nights are for slumping into the couch with whatever leftovers from the weekend cooking you can scrape together, as you resist the temptation to order cheap take-out, and watch whatever shows are left on your DVR that you haven’t caught up to yet.
Yet, wouldn’t it be nice to have some fresh and wonderful food to look forward to on Wednesday nights? I will dedicate Wednesday’s to some quick and easy recipes, or in some cases like today, to reviewing some food we bring in to the home from outside, which are still wholesome and delicious and totally worth the money you spend on them (rather than, say, the $7 bowl of General Tso’s chicken which you will regret ordering without fail about halfway into the meal).
Luckily for us, ever Wednesday there is a farmer’s market open right next to our apartment, on the way to the train station. The market runs from about mid July to the end of November, and we get to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables – a refreshing stop on the way back home! There is also a wide selection of breads and baked goods available – and today I picked up a wonderful loaf of multigrain bread to help ease me in to Wednesday night.
